Ukraine’s push to take over Crimea has resulted in some Russian units leaving the city of Kherson.
From a military standpoint, the assessment was accurate. Military units in Ukrainian hands were almost entirely Russian; several prominent Ukrainian officers left Ukraine and went to Russia soon afterward. The departure of the Russian units caused some concern at the time among Ukrainians, but only because of the importance of these units to the Ukraine's defense against an attack by Soviét forces. Let us remember that Ukraine was a sovereign country on which no Russian troops were allowed without permission from Kiev.
